The video for “Sweet Child O’ Mine” by Guns N' Roses has become the first ‘80s video to reach 1 billion views on YouTube.
The track from the band’s 1987 album Appetite For Destruction came with a black-and-white video that shows the band rehearsing and features the musicians’ real-life girlfriends at the time.
It took nearly a decade on YouTube for “Sweet Child O’ Mine” to top 1 billion views. The video was uploaded to the platform in late 2009.
Guns N' Roses’ “November Rain” previously became the only video from the ‘90s to hit 1 billion views. It’s currently at over 1.2 billion.
