A month after singer SZA complained of racial profiling at one of its stores, Sephora has announced it is conducting “inclusion workshops” for its employees.
The retailer said its U.S. stores will be closed on Wednesday morning – but it denied the training sessions are a direct response to SZA’s complaint.
The R&B singer took to Twitter on April 30 to report that a Sephora employee she named Sandy called security “to make sure I wasn’t stealing.”
Lmao Sandy Sephora location 614 Calabasas called security to make sure I wasn’t stealing . We had a long talk. U have a blessed day Sandy

Sephora, which is part of the Paris-based conglomerate LVMH, responded: “We want to let you know we take complaints like this very seriously and are actively working with our teams to address the situation immediately. You are part of the Sephora family, and we are committed to ensuring every member of our community feels welcome and included at our stores.”
In a video shared on Facebook this week, the retailer said it “believes in championing all beauty, living with courage, and standing fearlessly together to celebrate our differences. We will never stop building a community where diversity is expected, self-expression is honored, all are welcomed, and you are included.”
