Taylor Swift was among the music stars celebrating Monday’s U.S. Supreme Court ruling protecting LGBTQ people from workplace discrimination.
“YES!! Thank you to the Supreme Court Justices who voted in favour and all the advocates who have fought so hard for this!,” Swift tweeted. "We still have a long way to go to reach equality, but this is a beautiful step forward.”
Selena Gomez called it “great news” and Mandy Moore said it was “just incredible news! A bright spot in a dark time.”
Sara Bareilles responded to the ruling by tweeting 11 clapping-hands emojis.
“A reason to celebrate! Happy Pride Month!,” tweeted John Legend. Barbara Streisand declared: “Yes equal rights for all!”
Adam Lambert tweeted simply: "So relieved."
Award-winning songwriter Benj Pasek tweeted: “This is great news for the LGBTQ+ community. But pretty f**king wild to know that the 6-3 vote means 3 of those justices are fine to publicly, openly declare that LGBT+ employees SHOULD be allowed to be fired just because of their identities. We've still got a long ways to go.”
Tegan and Sara said they were "Cheering from Canada!"
