Taylor Swift has reportedly pulled out of performing at the Grammy Awards – even though it was never announced that she was performing.
Variety cited multiple sources as saying the pop star was close to confirming that she would perform her song “The Man” during Sunday night’s show but has decided against it.
“It’s unconfirmed whether her quietly bowing out is directly related to the scandal involving the allegations flying back and forth between the Academy trustees and ousted CEO Deborah Dugan,” read Friday’s report, “though speculation that Swift might exit because of that was already rampant among insiders even before her MIA status was confirmed.”
According to Variety, rehearsals for the Grammys included one “TBA” slot, which was rumoured to be Swift. The singer flew out of Park City, Utah late Thursday, immediately following the premiere of Taylor Swift: Miss Americana at the Sundance film festival.
Swift has three nominations: Song of the Year (for “Lover”), Best Pop Vocal Album (Lover) and Best Pop Solo Performance ("You Need to Calm Down").
