Taylor Swift's record-breaking Eras Tour has been such a phenomenal success that the singer/songwriter has decided to give back to her team.
After word dropped that truck drivers on the tour were receiving a $100k bonus for hauling the elaborate staging and equipment all over the U.S., now People is reporting that Swift has been handing out bonuses to everyone involved in the tour.
A source tells People that Swift has handed out a total of more than $55 million in bonuses to everyone working the Eras shows. This includes truckers, dancers, riggers, sound and lighting techs, and caterers, among others.
The tour, which began in Arizona back in March, will wrap up it's current American leg with a six-night stint at Sofi Stadium in Los Angeles beginning tomorrow (August 3).
California's lieutenant governor and a group of elected officials are hoping Swift will continue to spread the generosity. They have asked the pop star to postpone the remaining Sofi shows in solidarity with striking hotel workers.
Lt. Gov. Eleni Kounalakis and other local politicians have signed an open letter informing Swift that the area's hotels will be “doubling and tripling what they charge because you are coming.”
The union, Unite Here Local 11, representing more than 30,000 hotel workers, is currently on strike, trying to negotiate better wages, benefits, pension contributions and fair workloads.
The letter adds, “Hotel workers are fighting for their lives. They are fighting for a living wage. They have gone on strike. Now, they are asking for your support. Stand with hotel workers and postpone your concerts.”
