Taylor Swift has been crowned the top-selling music act of 2019 by the IFPI, a global music industry organization, for the first time in five years.
“She continues to grow as an artist and maintains an incredibly strong connection with her fan base, whilst continuing to evolve her sound with each album,” said IFPI chief executive Frances Moore, in a release. “It is a pleasure to be able to present her with the Global Recording Artist of the Year award for the second time.”
Swift topped the annual chart thanks to sale of her seventh studio album Lover, which was released last August. She was previously No. 1 in 2014 due to the success of 1989.
Canadian rap star Drake is ranked No. 8 on this year’s list, after topping it in 2018 and 2016.
