Taylor Swift is set to become the new mayor of Santa Clara, California when her Eras tour touches down in the city on July 28 for two shows.
The current Mayor Lisa Gillmor has announced that not only will she concede her title to Swift temporarily for the two-day stop at Levi's Stadium, but she will also officially change the city's name to “Swiftie Clara.” (Not to be confused with Swiftieapolis or Swiftsburgh.)
According to the Mercury-News, Gillmoor feels this honour will help “celebrate the positive local impact to the Santa Clara community, as well as the impact regionally, of Taylor Swift’s music, tours and extraordinary fanbase.” Of course, let's not forget about how the tour will also give the community a major economic boost.
“We’re thrilled to host an artist whose devotion to music and empowerment sets such a positive example for so many people of all ages in the world and that’s why we’re doing this,” Gillmor added.
The stop in Swiftie Clara will mark the second to last city for the Eras tour's American leg, which wraps up in August at the SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, CA. Still no mention of Canadian dates, but we seem to have have people working on making that happen.
