Taylor Swift's Eras Tour generated a record-breaking $2 billion in gross ticket sales over its 21-month run, doubling the total of any other concert tour in history.
According to a New York Times report, the long-running tour, which ended in Vancouver, BC last night, brought in a total of $2,077,618,725 just from tickets sold since it kicked off on March 17, 2023 in Glendale, AZ.
All 149 concerts across five continents on the Eras Tour were sold out, which according to Swift’s touring company, resulted in a total of 10,168,008 people in attendance. Times that number by the average ticket price of $204 and you get your $2 billion. (This is all before all of the revenue brought in from merchandise sales, which has not been released just yet.)
Swift marked the occasion last night at Vancouver's BC Place, thanking the fans for "one last grand adventure" and "being a part of the most thrilling chapter of my entire life, my beloved Eras Tour."
As she was preparing to sing her song "Lover," Swift recapped the past two years of her life, saying, "We have toured the entire world... we have had so many adventures. It has been the most exciting, powerful, electrifying, intense, most challenging thing I've ever done in my entire life."
One fan in attendance pointed out that she even bookended her catalogue when selecting the night's two surprise songs: "Tim McGraw," the first song on her self-titled debut album, and "The Manuscript," the last song on her most recent album, The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology.
Swift also changed some lyrics to suit the occasion, changing “Long Live” from “It was the end of a decade,” to, “It was the end of an era / But the start of an age.” She also paid tribute to her boyfriend Travis Kelce during "Karma," singing, “Karma is the guy on the Chiefs.”
