The estate of Jeff Healey has premiered a teaser trailer for a feature documentary about the late Canadian guitarist.
See The Light: The Jeff Healey Story is being produced by Toronto’s TGTV and Eggplant Pictures in partnership with Healey’s wife Cristie and promises to explore “Jeff’s remarkable story through new interviews, archival footage and Jeff’s own unique voice.”
The film, which is in pre-production, does not yet have a release date. It takes its name from the 1988 debut album of the Jeff Healey Band, which included the hit “Angel Eyes.”
Healey died in 2008 at 41 after a battle with cancer.
“It’s great that his legacy is being kept alive,” musician Sonny Landreth said, in a release. “It’s important to turn the next generation on to people like Jeff. He’s right up there with the all-time greats.”
Toto’s Steve Lukather remembered Healey as “one of the most unique players of all-time” and said he “redefined what the guitar can do and how you can play it.”
