The Chainsmokers are smack dab in the middle of a string of tour dates, but Alex Pall of the EDM duo took some time out of the chaos to tribute a fan by the name of Jake, who recently died of cancer.
On Monday (Feb. 27), Pall hopped on Instagram to share a heartfelt story about the young fan, who was planning on attending one of their London shows. Unfortunately, his health took a turn for the worse and was unable to make the concert. It's evident that Jake had a good circle of support by his side when his friend sent an e-mail to chart-toppers inquiring if they can send in a video of support for his friend.
"Well as life would have it we just heard from his dad that he passed away the day after he got our message. His dad thanked us for the message and I cried," the 31-year-old star wrote.
Pall went on to share two valuable lessons he learned from the loss of Jake. "Not only does this break our heart but it reminds us of two valuable lesson; it's so easy to do little acts of kindness they can go such a long way, not only did this email exchange change our lives but we hope we brought happiness to one of his last moments," he explained. "So today just think about how much better it is to go that little bit extra and do something positive. And two life is fragile and spontaneous hopefully many of you haven't had to lose someone close to you unexpectedly and for those that have trust me I know the feeling, so cherish those around you, never end things on a bad note and really value each minute you have with the ones you love.
