Rockabilly icon Ronnie “The Hawk” Hawkins has dramatically cut the asking price for his Ontario home.
Hawkstone Manor, a 577-acre property in Lakefield, about 150 km northeast of Toronto, is currently listed for $4.25 million — down from $14.9 million in 2013.
The 82-year-old musician and his wife Wanda are looking for a more modest home.
The property boasts more than 3,300 feet of shoreline on Stoney Lake. There are 8 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms in the main house and two guest cottages. There’s also a special event barn.
Property taxes last year were a reaonable $11,581, according to Sotherby's International Realty Canada, which has the listing.
Famous visitors to the estate over the years include Hawkins’ pals Kris Kristofferson, Blue Rodeo, Rush, Kenny Rogers and David Clayton Thomas. Gordon Lightfoot is said to have written “Sundown” during one of his many stays.
