The Philosopher Kings, one of the most successful Canadian bands of the ‘90s, has regrouped for a cross-country tour that kicks off in February.
The 10-city run, with opening acts Jordan Alexander and Jonathan Roy, starts Feb. 18 in Halifax and wraps up March 6 with a show in Vancouver.
Singer Gerald Eaton and musicians Denton Whited, Jon Levine, James Bryan and Brian West will release a brand new single before hitting the road. A new album — the band’s first since 2006’s Castles — is also in the works.
Fans of The Philosopher Kings remember the high-energy live shows and a repertoire that included hits like “Charms" and “Hurts To Love You.” The group has also covered tracks like “If I Ever Lose This Heaven" and "Cry."
Before taking a break, the band earned five Juno nominations (it won Best New Group in 1996) and released three studio albums and a live album.
The group’s members have kept busy. Eaton recorded and performed as Jarvis Church; Bryan has collaborated with artists like Jessie J, James Blunt and Jason Mraz; and Levine is a producer and songwriter who has worked with Rachel Platten, Selena Gomez and Drake.
