Country reigned on the season finale of The Voice, which featured performances by acts like Luke Combs, Lady Antebellum and Little Big Town.
Oh, and the winner was Jake Hoot, a country singer from Texas.
The 31-year-old single dad to 4-year-old Macy is the first winner in the show’s history to have only turned around one chair. During the blind auditions, Hoot’s cover of Combs’ song “When it Rains it Pours” convinced Kelly Clarkson to hit her button.
“You sound like Ronnie Dunn,” she told him at the time.
Hoot, who performed tracks by country artists like Trace Adkins and Willie Nelson this season, was in the finale against Ricky Duran (Team Blake Shelton), Katie Kadan (Team John Legend) and Rose Short (Team Gwen Stefani).
On the finale, Hoot joined Little Big Town for a performance of “Over Drinking.”
Country fans watching The Voice also got to see Combs belt out “Even Though I’m Leaving” and Lady Antebellum perform “What If I Never Get Over You.”
