The Weeknd has donated $100,000 to a medical centre in East Africa to help fund a maternity clinic and a children’s medical facility.
The “Starboy” singer was compelled to help after learning of his friend, rapper French Montana’s association with the Suubi Health Center in Budondo, Uganda, according to E! News.
Montana, who hails from Morocco, has been advocating for aid for the East African nation with his #Unforgettable video and campaign, which he says is a “call to action to raise awareness for the needs of Suubi and the people of Uganda.”
The rapper has been working with charities Global Citizen and Mama Hope to help raise awareness for Suubi, and his #Unforgettable campaign has managed to raise enough money for a blood bank, premature incubators, cribs and other maternity supplies for the centre.
