Canada is well represented on the list of finalists for the 2022 Billboard Music Awards (BBMAs).
The Weeknd shows up in a leading 17 categories and both Justin Bieber and Drake are finalists in multiple categories. All three are competing for Top Male Artist against Ed Sheeran and Lil Nas X.
The BBMAs are based on “key fan interactions with music” – sales, streams radio airplay and social engagement (mostly in the U.S.) – between March 26, 2021 and March 17, 2022.
Doja Cat is up for 14 awards and both Ye and Olivia Rodrigo are tied with Bieber as finalists in 13 categories.
The BBMAs will be handed out on May 15 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
