The Weeknd has surpassed Ed Sheeran and The Chainsmokers to set a chart record in the U.S.
The Canadian singer’s hit “Blinding Lights” remains in the Top 5 of the Billboard Hot 100 for its 28th week, breaking the record for the most weeks in the Top 5 previously held by “Shape of You” by Sheeran in 2017 and “Closer” by The Chainsmokers ft. Halsey in 2016-17.
The Hot 100 is compiled using Nielsen Music/MRC Data figures for streaming, radio airplay and sales in the U.S. The chart dated Sept. 26, where "Blinding Lights" is No. 5, was posted Tuesday.
