Canadian singer The Weeknd is being sued by an artist who alleges his 2016 hit “Starboy” is a rip-off of her 1999 track “Hooyo.”

Yasminah, who is seeking at least $5 million U.S., claims The Weeknd’s collaboration with Daft Punk copies “the beat” of her song and has the “same hook, same key and a similar tempo.”

The lawsuit suggests The Weeknd knows about Yasminah’s music because they both have African roots (his parents came to Canada from Ethiopia).

TMZ reported that two of Yaminah’s producers previously reached a settlement with The Weeknd and Daft Punk.

None of her allegations have been proven in a court.
