The Weeknd will make his big screen debut this September in his hometown.

The Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) on Tuesday said it will host the “International Premiere” of Uncut Gems, a crime drama starring Adam Sandler that features The Weeknd as himself.

The Weeknd reportedly shot a performance scene for the flick last October inside New York City club 1 OAK.

TIFF said the film, directed by Josh and Benny Safdie, follows a New York City jeweller (Sandler) “always on the lookout for the next big score.”

A description reads: “When he makes a series of high-stakes bets that could lead to the windfall of a lifetime, Howard must perform a precarious high-wire act, balancing business, family, and encroaching adversaries on all sides, in his relentless pursuit of the ultimate win.”

Uncut Gems is scheduled to open in limited release on Dec. 13 and will go wide on Christmas Day – eventually making its way to Netflix.

The premiere date for Uncut Gems at TIFF will be announced next month. The festival runs Sept. 5 to 15.
