The Weeknd is on top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart for the fifth time in five years – tying fellow Canadians Justin Bieber and Drake for the most No. 1 songs since 2015.
According to Nielsen Music/NRC Data, “Blinding Lights” has risen to No. 1 on the Hot 100 dated April 4, which will be published Tuesday. The chart is based on U.S. streaming, radio airplay and sales data.
“Blinding Lights” is the second single from the Canadian singer’s fourth album After Hours, which is also No. 1.
In fact, all 14 tracks on the original version of After Hours are on the Hot 100, with 10 in the Top 40 – making The Weeknd only the eighth artist ever to have that many songs in the Top 40 at the same time. (The record is held by fellow Toronto native Drake.)
The Weeknd previously topped the chart with “Heartless” (2019), “Starboy” (2017), “The Hills” (2015) and “Can’t Feel My Face” (2015).
Drake is featured on Future’s “Life Is Good,” which is No. 6 on the new Hot 100, and Bieber’s “Intentions” featuring Quavo is at No. 8.
A deluxe edition of After Hours, featuring five alternate versions (including a “Blinding Lights” remix) and three bonus songs, dropped on Monday.
