There’s no business like shoe business — and now The Weeknd is part of it.
Toronto’s R&B superstar has taken his Puma x XO shoe design out of the box ahead of its Aug. 24 release.
The Parallel is a high-top sneaker that comes in white or olive and is priced at $220 U.S.
“I was involved in almost every aspect, but I was most focused on the silhouette,” The Weeknd told Footwear News. “We really collaborated and worked on making the best product possible.”
The singer said he wants “to see everyone wearing it.
“I want it to be part of pop culture. I want to walk down the street and see kids wearing it and women wearing it. I want to see the Pope wearing it. I want to see [Barack] Obama wearing it. I want to see Elon Musk wearing it.”
The Weeknd’s collaboration with Puma will eventually include T-shirts and denim as well as limited edition shoes.
He joins Rihanna and Solange as music artists with Puma collections.
