Classic rock band The Who announced on Monday they are going on tour and working on their first studio album in more than 12 years.
The Moving On! Tour, which kicks off on May 7 in Michigan, will wrap up on Oct. 23 in Edmonton. In between, there are shows in Toronto and Vancouver.
A local orchestra from each city will back the band.
“Be aware, Who fans!,” singer Roger Daltrey, 74, said in a release. “Just because it’s The Who with an orchestra, in no way will it compromise the way Pete and I deliver our music.
“This will be full throttle Who with horns and bells on.”
The new album, set to come out later this year, was described by guitarist Pete Townshend, 73, as a collection of “dark ballads, heavy rock stuff, experimental electronica, sampled stuff and Who-ish tunes that began with a guitar that goes yanga-dang.”
