After receiving word that Selena Gomez's collaboration with Jax Jones probably isn't going to see the day of light, it doesn't look like the future for her star-studded duet with Thomas Rhett is too bright either.
Rhett, who is still adjusting to his role as a father to adopted daughter Willa, spoke with Rare Country about the team-up, but didn't appear entirely too confident in what's going to happen to their collaboration, which was set for his new album.
"It's possible," he revealed. "Anytime the country world melts into the pop world, it’s an interesting conversation. A lot of things need to go correct for it to work out. But yes, Selena did sing a song of mine. It’s still sort of up in the air if it’s going to actually make the record."
Rhett went on to admit that the pair has never met in-person. In fact, they've only chatted over the phone, but he still had nothing but sweet things to say about the star. "I've only been able to talk to her over the phone but I was blown away just how super nice and respectful [she was], because I was terrified to talk to her, especially about the song," the country titan continued. "Like, I was scared to say, 'Maybe if you try this’ to the biggest superstar that literally exists in this world and I'm just me? (Laughs.) But yeah, she was so sweet and I can't wait to meet her someday."
Nonetheless, you can expect to hear her collaborations with his father Rhett Akins and Maren Morris. Take a look below at his video for "Craving You" with Morris.
