Thomas Rhett said Thursday that when it comes to deciding which songs made it onto his new album Center Point Road, his wife Lauren and daughters played important roles.
“My wife is my best judge of songs,” the country star explained at an iHeartCountry Album Release Party in New York City.
Daughters Willa and Ada also help Rhett figure out if a song it worthy. “I've noticed that when I play a demo for my kids if they don't ask to hear it again it's probably not great,” he said. “So if they keep asking me to repeat it, and play it and play it then it's good.”

The album’s 16 tracks were chosen from about 100 he penned with various songwriters while touring. “When I got back to Nashville after a run of shows the last thing my wife wants me to do is go back into town and do music music music.”
Rhett talked about welcoming artists like Kelsea Ballerini, Jon Pardi and Little Big Town onto the album.
“That's what's so cool about country,” he said. “I feel like I could call anybody in our genre. I feel like I'm friends with a lot of people and they're very genuine friendships.”
With “Beer Can’t Fix,” Rhett said it felt only natural that Pardi be on it. “So I texted Jon and said 'I got this song that I think you'd sound great on' and I sent him the demo and two days later his voice was on it.”
