Thousands of people gathered in Limerick County, Ireland on Sunday to pay tribute to Cranberries singer Dolores O’Riordan, who died on Jan. 15 at 46.
O’Riordan body – in black and holding a set of pearly rosary beads – appeared in an open coffin at St. Joseph’s Church for a four-hour public viewing. It arrived accompanied by the singer’s mother Eileen and her six siblings.
According to the Irish Times, the church was decorated with photos of O’Riordan and white roses. A floral tribute from her bandmates was next to the coffin. “The song has ended,” it read, “but the memories linger on.”
O’Riordan’s body will be reposed at Cross’ Funeral Home on Monday and her funeral mass will take place on Tuesday. She will be buried beside her father at a private service at Caherelly Cemetery.
O’Riordan was found dead in a London hotel room. Officials have said it could be April until an exact cause of death is determined but foul play is not suspected.
The singer married Canadian-born Don Burton in 1994 and their first child, son Taylor, was born in Toronto. The family lived off-and-on in Buckhorn, north of Peterborough, Ont., for many years.
