It’s St. Patrick’s Day... but we’re being told to keep our wee selves at home as COVID-19 shamrocks the world.
That’s why Canadian country star Tim Hicks is throwing a St. Patrick’s Day party that anyone can attend.
“I couldn't let St. Patrick’s Day go on without some sort of celebration! Join me on Facebook Live tonight at 7 pm ET,” the singer wrote on social media Tuesday. “I'll be jamming a few of my favourite party tunes.
“Drink along, sing along! Let's have a virtual party!”
Hicks’ online ceilidh comes at the same time as the release of his version of the Newfoundland folk song “The Night Patty Murphy Died” with Alan Doyle (whose former band Great Big Sea covered it in 1997).
“I played this song nearly every night for years and years,” Hicks explained on Facebook, “so you can imagine it was an honour, and a thrill to sing it next to the one and only Alan Doyle!(Also… don’t forget to wash your hands out there!)
