Canadians love “Stronger Beer.”
The infectious song just earned homegrown country star Tim Hicks his second Platinum certification.
At an invitation-only gig in Toronto on Monday night, Hicks also picked up a Platinum plaque for his breakout hit “Get By.”
Hicks said he is surprised by the success of “Stronger Beer.”
“For a song that was never a single, and never even supposed to be a song in the first place, this is absolutely incredible news,” he said, in a release. “I can’t thank my fans enough for making this happen. I’m humbled and honoured.”

In an interview with iHeartRadio.ca last September, Hicks admitted he isn’t always anxious to play “Stronger Beer” live on tour.
“Every now and again I’ll have a ‘Oh, ‘Stronger Beer’ again’ sort of moment,” Hicks said.
“The guys in my band are so great at reminding me that we are so lucky that we have a song like that that people wait to hear every night.”

The singer also said his name could end up on a bottle of strong beer someday.
“I would love to do something like that one day,” Hicks said. “You never know what’s going to happen down the line. That would be amazing.
“Maybe I’ve got to … get into the craft brewery thing.”
Hicks will perform on Canada Day in Wasaga, Ont. and will hit the stage at the Cavendich Beach Music Festival on July 9, Ottawa Bluesfest on July 16 and B.C.’s Sunfest on Aug. 5. He’s also set to play the Budweiser Stage in Toronto on Aug. 24 with Dean Brody.
