Toby Keith is marking the 25th anniversary of his breakout hit “Should’ve Been A Cowboy” at this summer’s country music festivals.

The Should’ve Been A Cowboy Tour XXV has only one Canadian stop so far – Aug. 18 at Country Thunder in Calgary.

The song, from his self-titled album, hit No. 1 in 1993.

Keith has said he wrote the song in about 20 minutes in a hotel bathroom, inspired by watching his friend get turned down for a dance by a woman who then danced with a cowboy.
