Still think COVID-19 is a joke? Tool frontman Maynard James Keenan has a message for you.
Earlier this month, the 56-year-old musician revealed he noticed what he later learned were symptoms of the virus in February while on tour in Australia. “It was ugly,” he told AZ Central. “I survived it, but it wasn't pretty.”
In a new interview on the Joe Rogan Experience, Keenan said he was surprised to learn some people don’t believe he had COVID-19.
“Maybe I didn’t almost die, but I have friends who almost died,” he said. “And then you have people going … apparently I’m being paid to say this. Eat a d**k, dude.”
Keenan said there are lingering effects. “I still have the cough … I’ll have a coughing fit for, you know, 10 minutes, coughing up stuff,” he said. “So I have lung damage from it still.”
Keenan’s side project Puscifer is releasing a new album, Existential Reckoning, on Oct. 30.
