Tool revealed the release date for its highly anticipated new album on Tuesday night: Aug. 30.
At a concert in Alabama, the date was displayed on a video screen. “Alright everyone, take out your phones,” frontman Maynard James Keenan told the crowd. “Security stand down and let these f**kers do whatever it is with their phones.”
Tool followed up with a tweet early Wednesday morning showing “MMXIX” (2019 in Roman numerals) and “August 30th.”

It will be the band’s fifth studio album – and first since 2006’s 10,000 Days.
Over the weekend, Tool previewed the album by performing the new song “Invincible” during a concert in Florida, as well as “Descending,” which had its live debut in Toronto in 2012.
