The Toronto Raptors’ training facility has been renamed in honour of hometown rap star Drake.
The building, located at Exhibition Place, will be known as the OVO Athletic Centre. OVO – October’s Very Own – is Drake’s brand.
“Drake and OVO are an important part of our city's landscape, our team's identity, and our plans to bring a championship to Toronto,” Raptors president Masai Ujiri said, in a statement.
Drake has been the NBA team’s “global ambassador” for nearly six years and is often seen sitting courtside at home games.
“This new naming rights deal for our training facility is a perfect example of the strength of this partnership and the innovative opportunities it can generate,” Ujiri added.
On Instagram, Drake shared an image of the facility’s exterior, which features the OVO owl next to the Raptors logo.
“Just wanted to add that I am so proud of my brothers and so proud to be from this city,” Drake captioned the shot. “I swear this one feels like a high school dream and it’s a blessing to be able to raise up the levels and make the human mind stretch when it comes to thinking about what is possible in your lifetime!!
“Much love to everyone involved.”
