A documentary chronicling The Tragically Hip’s Man Machine Poem tour — their last with frontman Gord Downie — will premiere Oct. 20 at 8 p.m. ET on CTV.
Long Time Running was originally scheduled to be broadcast in November but will debut early in the wake of Downie’s death on Tuesday.
“Canadians from across the country are grieving the passing of this extraordinary individual,” noted Bell Media president Randy Lennox. “In consultation with the band, we thought this was the right time to share with fans this intimate peek into last summer’s tour.”

The 95-minute documentary, which will air without commercials, was directed by Jennifer Baichwal and Nicholas De Pencier. It had its world premiere at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival.
Long Time Running will encore on CTV on its original date, Nov. 12 at 8 p.m. and then be available for streaming on CraveTV.
The film was commissioned by Bell Media, parent company of this website.
