The video for Shawn Mendes’ 2016 hit “Treat You Better” has surpassed 2 billion views on YouTube.
Directed by Toronto’s Ryan Pallotta, the dramatic video stars Frankie Dunne and Ellie Stuart Hunter. The song was written by Mendes with Teddy Geiger and Scott Harris and peaked at No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100.
“Treat You Better” is now one of fewer than 50 music videos to reach the 2 billion mark on the platform and Mendes is only the second Canadian artist – after Justin Bieber – to achieve the milestone. (Bieber’s “Sorry” video has topped 3.3 billion views since 2015.)
The No. 1 music video is “Despacito” by Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee, which has had more than 7 billion views.
