Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross of Nine Inch Nails are among the nominees announced Tuesday for the 2020 Primetime Emmy Awards.
The two are nominated for both the original score of Watchmen and for penning “The Way It Used To Be,” a song featured in one episode of the series.
Reznor and Ross won a Golden Globe and Oscar in 2011 for composing the score for The Social Network. They also won a Grammy in 2013 for scoring Girl with a Dragon Tattoo.
In the latter category, Reznor and Ross are up against Pharrell Williams (”Letter to my Godfather” from The Black Godfather) and Ingrid Michaelson (“Build It Up” from Little Fires Everywhere).
Other music artists who earned Emmy nominations include The Rza for the theme to Wu-Tang: An American Saga and Sheila E (with producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis) for music direction on Let’s Go Crazy: The Grammy Salute to Prince.
Singers Zendaya and Billy Porter nabbed acting nods for Euphoria and Pose respectively.
The 62nd Grammy Awards collected a number of nominations, the American Music Awards earned one and there were several noms for The Voice and The Masked Singer.
The Super Bowl LIV Halftime Show featuring Jennifer Lopez and Shakira was recognized with a pair of noms, including outstanding live variety special.
The Primetime Emmys also recognized the documentary Beastie Boys Story, which is up for three awards. TV movie Dolly Parton’s Heartstrings: These Old Bones is also nominated.
Winners of the 2020 Primetime Emmys will be announced on Sept. 20.
