R&B star Trey Songz surrendered to police in Los Angeles on Monday and was charged with felony domestic violence.
The 33-year-old singer was released on $50,000 U.S. bail.
Songz, whose real name is Tremaine Neverson, is accused of punching and choking Andrea Buera, who claims she suffered a concussion. Buera alleges Songz was upset that she was talking to another man at a party on Feb. 18.
Songz took to social media to address the allegation.
“I feel that my fam, the women that raised me, my friends & fans especially the youth need to hear from me,” he tweeted. "I am being lied on and falsely accused for someone’s personal gain.
“I won’t be speaking too much more on this but would like to thank you for all the prayers and support.”
In 2016, Songz was charged with aggravated assault and assaulting a police officer following a show in Detroit. Last August he pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 18 months of probation and ordered to take anger management classes.
