UB40 frontman Duncan Campbell is in hospital after suffering a stroke.
The 62-year-old singer, who replaced his brother Ali Campbell in 2008, is “already up and about,” according to a tweet from the English band.
“We ask fans to respect Duncan and the Family’s privacy,” it added, “as he works his way back to what we all hope will be a strong and speedy recovery.”
UB40 had success with reggae-infused covers of Neil Diamond’s “Red Red Wine” and the song made famous by Elvis Presley, “(I Can’t Help) Falling In Love With You.” In 1995, the band teamed up with Chrissie Hynde of The Pretenders for a cover of Sonny & Cher’s classic “I Got You Babe,” which was a Top 10 hit in Canada.
Early last year, UB40 founding member Brian Travers was forced to step away from the band's 40th anniversary tour after being diagnosed with a brain tumour.
