Organizers of the Glastonbury Festival, optimistic the event will be able to happen in spite of the global COVID-19 pandemic, have announced a long list of performers.
The line-up includes icons like Paul McCartney as well as contemporary stars like Taylor Swift and Kendrick Lamar.
Also set to perform on the weekend of June 24 to 28 are Camila Cabello, Dua Lipa, Haim, Pet Shop Boys, Robyn, Sinead O’Connor, TLC and Tones and I.
In Instagram post, co-organizer Emily Eavis said the first batch of performers was being announced “with the best of intentions.”
She wrote: “As things stand we are still working hard to deliver our 50th anniversary Festival in June and we are very proud of the bill that we have put together over the last year or so. No one has a crystal ball to see exactly where we will all be 15 weeks from now, but we are keeping our fingers firmly crossed that it will be here at Worthy Farm for the greatest show on Earth!”
Notably, more than half of the acts announced this week are female or bands with female members.
Canada will be represented at Glastonbury by Ontario’s Caribou and Montreal-raised Rufus Wainwright.
