Thousands of party-happy folks will descend on a former military base in Toronto this weekend to experience sets by top DJs and some big-name hip-hop acts.
The sixth annual Veld Music Festival, which takes place Saturday and Sunday at Downsview Park, has a stellar line-up that includes EDM faves like Tiësto and Zedd as well as acts like Future and Migos.
Also among the more than 30 acts scheduled to take the stage are Major Lazer, Tory Lanez and veterans Victor Calderone and Robin Schulz.
Festival goers are being urged to read the list of items that are allowed (and not allowed) on the grounds. Among the prohibited items are selfie sticks, masks, umbrellas and “culturally sensitive attire or offensive clothing/costumes.”
What will be allowed — for the first time in Veld’s history — are naxolone kits. Organizers cited “public safety” for the decision to accept the drug that reverses the effects of an overdose.
The festival site will be cashless (bring your plastic!).
Veld is also benefitting pigs this year. One dollars from every ticket sold between July 31 and Aug. 5 is being donated to the Happily Ever Esther Farm Sanctuary, home of the viral sensation Esther the Wonder Pig.
Environment Canada is calling for a mix of sun and clouds on both days with highs ranging from 22 C to 25 C.
