Brooklyn-born singer/songwriter Enisa released her new single "Burn This Bridge" back in September of this year, and today (Nov. 23) iHeartRadio has debuted the song's official music video.
Enisa's "Burn This Bridge" music video was shot throughout different locations around New York City, and the 20-year-old exclusively tells iHeartRadio, "I was born and raised in Brooklyn, NYC, so I wanted my first music video to show my roots. NYC is what helped shape me into the artist I am today."
"Burn This Bridge" is about leaving behind a person who brings you down, and for Enisa, the inspiration came from someone who she hoped would help her in her career, but instead, told her she'd "never make it." She tells us:
"I wrote 'Burn This Bridge' because someone I hoped would help me, instead, told me I’d never make it. At first I was upset and let down, but I did not let it get to me. I used my anger and turned it into a song that represents self confidence and independence. The whole experience helped me realize that I don’t need to rely on anyone for anything but myself, because I have the power to achieve whatever my heart desires, as long as I believe in myself first."
Enisa also explains that the meaning behind the song's lyrics translates into its music video. She describes her hometown as a place where you "must grow thick skin because this is the place where dreams are made or hearts are broken." She adds, "NYC is not only my video's location, but it symbolizes this person that 'Let me down, shut me out,' because it’s something many can relate to; leaving a place that continuously breaks your heart. I end the video exiting at Grand Central station, singing the lines 'I ain’t never coming back, no, no, no.'"
As this year is coming to an end, there is a lot more in store for fans from Enisa in 2017. She tells us, "I am going to be writing, recording and releasing as much music as I can, so people can learn who I am and hear the stories I have to tell. I want to be connected with as many people next year as I can."
