Jenny Darren knows the game, and she knew exactly how to approach her recent Britain's Got Talent spot to make the biggest splash.
Darren took the stage playing the part of a sweet old lady to a T. She wore a cardigan over a dull, floral shirt, with a long skirt and her hair hastily clipped atop her head, like she had to rush straight from tea time to the stage.
When asked by the judges, Darren revealed that she is 68 years old and retired, but from what profession she didn't volunteer.
But Darren is a performer and she proceeded to give the audience a show to remember, tearing off her cardigan...then her shirt...then her skirt, revealing a black and leather rock 'n' roll ensemble beneath. She launched into AC/DC's "Highway to Hell."
The video is worth watching simply for the reaction shots of the judges as this is happening.
Darren is no amateur talent, really. She's an accomplished singer, who grew up with Robert Plant and whose band Stoney End opened for AC/DC back in 1977. Pat Benatar's song "Heartbreaker" was originally recorded by Darren, and she's been performing in England and releasing music both solo and with her band Jenny Darren and the Ladykillers for years.
