Even at 97, Chuck Franzke can’t stop the feeling of wanting to dance.
The World War II veteran has gone viral after stepping out of self-isolation at his home in Waukesha, Wisconsin to show off his moves to Justin Timberlake’s infectious 2016 hit.
“This just made my day,” Timberlake captioned a clip he shared in an Instagram Story. Franzke’s dancing to “Can’t Stop the Feeling” also caught the eye of pop icon Cher, who tweeted a link to a story about the video to her 3.7 million followers.
The video was posted to Twitter on April 5 by Stars and Stripes Honour Flight, an organization that flies U.S. veterans to their memorials in Washington, D.C. at no cost. Two years ago, the organization shared video of Franzke swaying to Frank Sinatra’s rendition of “Let it Snow! Let it Snow! Let it Snow!”
Franzke was a pilot in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1945, flying bombers off the USS Saginaw Bay in the Pacific. The father of two has lived in the same home for more than 57 years with his wife of 75 years, Bev.
"I like to dance, but my balance stinks,” Franzke told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel in 2017. "I don't really know what I'm doing. I just bounce around.”
