Adam Lambert goes retro in the video for “Superpower,” the song he debuted Wednesday from his forthcoming EP.

“Try to put me in a box / Make me somethin’ I’m not,” the pop star sings while wearing colourful suits on the streets of Brooklyn. “Dont give a f**k ‘cause I’m gonna take back my superpower.”

The track is the first taste of Lambert’s Velvet: Side A, which drops Sept. 27, and was co-written by the singer with Tommy English and Ilsey Juber. It’s one of six songs on the EP.

The 37-year-old has released three studio albums since coming in second on Season 8 of American Idol.

Lambert recently wrapped up the North American leg of Queen’s Rhapsody Tour. He’ll be overseas with the band in January.
