Adele paid an emotional tribute to the victims of the London terror attack during her New Zealand show Thursday night (Mar. 23).
The singer, who was born in North London, dedicated her 19 single "Make You Feel My Love" to the victims of the deadly attack outside of the British Parliament, telling her fans: "Today there was a terror attack in my hometown of London. I’m literally on the other side of the world, and I want them to see our lights and to hear us."
"Everyone [I know] is fine, but there are four people that aren’t fine," she continued. "I feel very far away and very strange not being at home. All I want to do today is just be at home and be with my friends and family."
The London attacker has been identified as Khalid Masood, a 52-year-old man with a long criminal record who had been investigated for ties to violent extremism, according to The New York Times. The assailant was driving a sport utility vehicle and mowed down pedestrians and stabbed a police officer outside Parliament on Wednesday, marking the deadliest terror attack to hit the UK in 12 years. Three people died in the attack and more than 40 people were injured.
"Yesterday, an act of terrorism tried to silence our democracy," Prime Minister Theresa May told Parliament. "We are not afraid, and our resolve will never waver in the face of terrorism.”
