Alessia Cara has been on a steady rise since the release of her breakout single "Here," a lounge-soul anthem for the anti-social type who don't follow the hype.
The Ontario-born singer quickly proved she is no one-hit-wonder after releasing her debut album Know-It-All, which spawned her next outsider hit "Wild Things" and "Scars to Your Beautiful."
For the latter track, Cara made a pledge to perform the track makeup-free to stay consistent with the body positive message, which encourages women to accept themselves for their natural beauty.
The 20-year-old penned the empowering track as a clapback to the societal pressures women are constantly facing to look a certain way and dress a certain way to be deemed beautiful -- unrealistic standards Cara believes is extremely detrimental to one's self-esteem, including her own.

"I just thought it was extremely messed up and I think it's a very, very ignorant way to look at things," she told On Air with Ryan Seacrest in-studio Thursday morning, "and I wanted to write a song to cut through all of that nonsense and basically remind all girls -- or just all human beings period -- that maybe we should consider the fact that the world should change its perspective rather than us having to change ourselves."
Following her acoustic makeover of 'Scars To Your Beautiful,' Cara stripped down her sarcastic love track "I'm Yours."
"It's kind of like a sassy love song," she said. "I think if it were a person, it would be a very moody person, a very sarcastic person. It's basically just about falling for somebody and just hating the fact that you're falling for them.
"Everything about them is so perfect and you're just like, 'Why did you have to come into my life and ruin the miserable I had already? I was perfectly miserable on my own and you came ruining that!'"
You can watch Cara perform her rookie album Know-It-All at iHeartRadio's Jingle Ball in Toronto on Nov. 25. She will perform along with The Weeknd, Justin Bieber, The Chainsmokers, Hedley, and many more at the Air Canada Centre.
