Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj have dropped their latest collaboration, “The Light Is Coming.”
It’s the second single from Grande’s fourth studio album Sweetener, which is set for release on Aug. 17. The pair previously teamed up for 2016's hit "Side To Side."
Produced by Pharrell Williams, the song uses a clip of a man saying “you wouldn’t let anybody speak” during a 2009 CNN town hall.
Some fans aren’t loving it. One tweeted: “request: version of ‘the light is coming’ without an old man screaming in the background.”
The Light is Coming is PHENOMENAL if you remove that voice note sample that unnecessarily runs through the entire thing

the light is coming would be such a bop if it wasn’t for that weird ass sample repeating in background the ENTIRE song.

I wish there was a version of The Light Is Coming that omits the awful, headache-inducing voice sample that loops throughout the song. It is really distracting and unappealing. What purpose does it serve?

The video for ‘The Light Is Coming,’ directed by Dave Meyers, is ironically dark.
