Frankie Grande is following in little sister Ariana’s footsteps with the release of his first official single, “Queen”.
The track was released Thursday and is a mix of cabaret – a nod to the singer’s Broadway roots – and pop rock in the vein of Bowie.
Grande, 34, explained that the song was inspired by his time performing in Mamma Mia and Rock of Ages on Broadway. The video for the song sees Grande having glitter and make-up applied to his face, then becoming slowly dishevelled by the same glam team.
The single tells “the story of seeing glam rock icons when I was younger – trying to emulate those people, then kind of seeing them go away, and then rediscovering that just because you don't see them anymore doesn't mean that they're not with me,” he told Billboard.
