Backstreet Boys released “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart” on Thursday – the group’s first new song in five years – along with a video from longtime collaborators Rich+Tone.
Kevin Richardson said, in a statement, that BSB knew the song was special the first time they heard it. “I geeked out over the piano and synths,” he said. “When that groove drops on the second verse, COME ON. Great verse, hook and melodies.
“Just makes you wanna listen over and over again.”
The song – which shares a title with an Elton John/Kiki Dee collaboration from 1976 – was produced by Jamie Hartman and Stuart Crichton.
BSB hasn’t released a studio album since 2013's In A World Like This and it’s not known if one if forthcoming.
