U.S. presidential candidate and current Vice President Kamala Harris took her campaign to Detroit, MI last night (October 22), where she had some help hyping up the crowd from some famous friends: Eminem and Barack Obama.
Hometown hero Eminem gave Harris a strong endorsement, delivering a brief speech to the people of Michigan.
“People shouldn’t be afraid to express their opinions, and I don’t think anyone wants an America where people are worried about retribution of what people will do if you make your opinion known," he said. "I think Vice President Harris supports a future for this country where these freedoms and many others will be protected and upheld.”
Eminem then introduced former President Barack Obama to take the mic. Walking out to the rapper's 2002 hit "Lose Yourself," Obama got the crowd going with his words, which he spun into a few lines of the song.
“I gotta say, I have done a lot of rallies, so I don’t usually get nervous," Obama said to the people of Michigan. "But I was feeling some kind of way following Eminem. I notice my palms are sweaty, knees weak, arms are heavy! Vomit on my sweater already! Mom’s spaghetti! I’m nervous, but on the surface, I look calm and ready! To drop bombs, but I keep on forgetting! I thought Eminem was gonna be performing. I was gonna jump out! Love me some Eminem!”
Naturally, the crowd ate it up. After the event, Eminem and Obama posed for the customary photo, which you can see below.
