Just days ahead of his performance at the 2017 iHeartRadio Music Awards, Bruno Mars unleashed the music video for "That's What I Like" and it exemplifies the shining results of pairing proper execution with a not-so-expensive budget.
In the clip, the 31-year-old rocks a silk shirt and track pants, and shows us some of his playful dance moves in an empty studio with white animation following his body movement. Interestingly enough, the video was co-directed by Mars and Jonathan Lia, and released just a day after it was shot, proving that some of the simplest of projects can be effective.
"It's what we want to bring to the table musically," he said of the hit during a recent interview. "You hear these '90s influences on the whole album, really, but 24K Magic is because of West Coast hip-hop: Dr. Dre, DJ Quik, Suga Free. This is what we grew up on. Listening to them, it was at a time when it was okay to party, to be flashy, to get on the dance floor."
"That's What I Like" is Bruno's second single off the LP, which was released last November. With recent performances of the cut at the 2017 Grammys and the Brit Awards, we're prepared to see another rendition this weekend.
