BTS was in New York City on Monday to share a message of empowerment at the United Nation’s 73rd General Assembly.
The pop group, which performed the last of three concerts in Hamilton, Ont. on Sunday night, appeared at the UN’s Youth 2030 event.
RM reflected on his childhood and how music changed his life. He explained that despite his success, he's still a young man with faults.
“BTS has become artists performing in those huge stadiums and selling millions of albums right now, but I am still an ordinary 24-year-old guy,” he said.
“Maybe I made mistakes yesterday, but yesterday's me is still me, and today I am who I am with all of my faults and mistakes. Tomorrow I might be a tiny bit wiser and that would be me, too.”
RM urged young people to find the confidence to speak out about global issues.
“Let's all take one more step. We have learned to love ourselves, so I urge you to speak yourself," he said. "No matter who you are, where you're from, your skin colour, your gender identity, speak yourself.
“Find your name and find your voice by speaking yourself.”
