Street musician Peter William Geddes proved this week that he is not about to let the chaos of 2020 prevent him from playing music.
Geddes posted on Instagram a clip showing him calmly playing The Bangles’ 1989 hit “Eternal Flame” in Barcelona’s Plaça Nova while police attempt to enforce curfew in the background. A protester is seen throwing a projectile and, aptly, a small fire burns several metres behind Geddes and his keyboard.
The Spanish government sparked nightly protests when it implemented an 11 p.m. national curfew in hopes of controlling the spread of COVID-19. (Late last month, Geddes shared a video of his performance of Europe's 1986 hit "The Final Countdown.")
“Eternal Flame” was written by The Bangles singer Susanna Hoffs with Billy Steinberg and Tom Kelly and topped the charts around the world.
